The Museum of the Mujahid of Ouargla Wilaya is one of the wilaya’s prominent landmarks of historical memory. It traces the historical period marked by the arrival of the French occupation, popular resistance, the national movement, and ultimately the outbreak of the Algerian Revolution and the attainment of independence.
The museum houses dedicated sections for manuscripts and revolutionary letters, as well as a collection of photographs documenting the contributions of brotherly countries to the Algerian Revolution, including the involvement of Egyptian police and aviation officers, in addition to the support provided by the Soviet Union.
The museum also includes an Internet room, a reading room, and a lecture hall hosting scientific and historical seminars, as well as theatrical performances and historical-themed musical and choral presentations. In addition, the museum organises travelling workshops featuring historical photographs, books and documentary films, with the participation of members of the Scientific Council.
As part of the implementation of ministerial agreements, the museum organises exchange visits for students of higher education and scientific research, pupils from the three levels of education—primary, middle and secondary—as well as vocational training students. These activities also involve the Algerian Muslim Scouts, the National Security services, Customs, Civil Protection, the National Gendarmerie and the People's National Army.
Through these initiatives, the museum seeks to instil the values of the November Revolution in younger generations and to familiarise them with the struggles of the Algerian people during the national liberation period. In coordination with the Scientific Council, it also contributes to supervising and supporting university students, particularly those studying History at the universities of Ghardaïa and Ouargla.
