The Hodna region occupies a strategic position in central Algeria, linking the different parts of the country. Owing to this geographical position, it played an active role in Algeria’s history and civilisational development throughout the centuries.
During the period of French occupation, the people of the region actively resisted the occupation and confronted its policies of colonial settlement. They also played an important role in the national movement and in the Liberation Revolution. The region remained a stronghold of resistance and a theatre of numerous historic battles during the Algerian Revolution, in which many martyrs fell in combat against French colonial rule.
The Museum of the Mujahid of M’sila Wilaya stands as a living repository of memory. It houses an extensive collection of photographs, historical artefacts, documents and testimonies documenting the heroism of its people and the struggles undertaken by its sons and daughters during the Algerian Revolution.
