Museum of the Mujahid of Djelfa Wilaya

The Djelfa region played a pivotal role during the Algerian Revolution, serving as a stronghold for the Mujahideen and a launching point for numerous operations against the French colonial forces. Owing to its strategic location, Djelfa constituted a vital corridor for supplying the revolutionaries with weapons and provisions, while also providing them with a safe refuge in the face of the French forces.

The region witnessed fierce battles and acts of heroism that have remained deeply engraved in collective memory. Its people set outstanding examples of sacrifice and selflessness in the struggle for Algeria’s independence. Djelfa’s contribution, however, was not limited to the military sphere; it also extended to logistical support and popular mobilisation, making the region a key pillar of the national struggle.

The establishment of the Museum of the Mujahid of Djelfa Wilaya represents an important contribution to the cultural and educational heritage developed by the Algerian State to preserve the country’s historical and cultural heritage, and to foster an authentic Algerian school for the writing of our national history.

The museum houses a valuable collection of historical photographs and rare documents, as well as first-hand testimonies documenting the major stages and historical events witnessed by the region during the glorious Algerian Revolution.
